Applicants for housing benefits must be 18 years or older and they need to have permanent registration in their place of rent in Iceland.
If the applicant's permanent registration is being processed by Immigration and the applicant only has a system id, he/she will not be able to apply for housing benefits until the registration is done.
The lease has to be valid for at least 3 months and it has to be registered electronically in the HMS Rent Register.
The place of rent must have at least 1 bedroom, private cooking facilities and a private bathroom. It can not be in a business property.
