If the leasing is terminated before the stipulated lease term, or for whatever reason never took effect, the lease must be deregistered in the HMS Rent Register.
Note that the parties to the lease must agree to this, otherwise it will have to be terminated or rescinded.
If the contract was electronic, it can be deregistered with the registration agent who will then forward the notification electronically to HMS.
If the contract was concluded on paper, the relevant data must be sent to hms@hms.is with a request for deregistration.
The data must include the date on which the notice/revocation was sent to the person concerned, the time from which the notice/revocation is to take effect and the manner in which the person was notified, for example by e-mail or a registered letter.
