The issuance of a permit for legal separation costs ISK 5,400. The issuance of a permit for a divorce costs ISK 6,500.

The fee may be paid at the district commissioner's cashier or with a wire transfer to the bank account of the office of the district commissioner handling the divorce proceedings.
