How long may the country remain in Iceland after completion of school?

The student permit is usually granted until 15 February or 15 July; applicants who do not need visa to travel to Iceland may stay for 90 days in Iceland after the permit has expired, as long as the stay on Schengen Area does not exceed 90 days in the previous 180-day period.
