Most documents are sufficient for submission by electronic means. However, foreign criminal records and a child's birth certificate must also be submitted on paper.

A criminal record certificate must be a legally authenticated original. If the certificate is in a language other than Icelandic, English or a Nordic language, a certified translation must also be submitted.
