I do not live in Iceland. Can I apply for citizenship?

According to the Icelandic Nationality Act you must have permanent residence in Iceland when an application for citizenship is handed in and when the decision is made. Permanent residence refers to the place where you reside, usually spend leisure time, keep your household items and sleep when you are not temporarily absent. Your legal domicile in Iceland has to be registered with the National Registry.
