Your spouse must have permanent residence in Iceland in order to apply.

If you are an Icelandic citizen, an application for citizenship may be made after 4 years of residence. You must have been an Icelandic citizen for a minimum of 5 years.

If you have been living together but not married, you can apply for citizenship after 5 years of residence.

A spouse must submit the same supporting documents as others, in addition to a marriage certificate or confirmation of cohabitation.
