I was granted Icelandic citizenship by law from Althingi. What now?

When the law on the granting of Icelandic citizenship takes effect, the day after its publication, the Directorate of Immigratin issues letters of confirmation and sends them to Registers Iceland.

It can take a few days for Registers Iceland to complete your registration as an Icelandic citizen in the National Registry. Only then can you apply for an Icelandic passport. Passports are applied for at the offices of a district commissioners around the country.
