Directorate of Immigration: International protection
What services am I entitled to while my application for protection is being processed?
You are entitled to legal assistance from an advocate while your application is being processed by the authorities. The role of an advocate begins at the time of his appointment and ends with the final decision at the administrative level.
While you wait to receive an answer to your application, you are offered accommodation, financial support and necessary health services, among other things. Pregnant women shall have access to maternity care and obstetric care, and children applying for protection shall have the opportunity to study.
The Directorate of Labour is responsible for services to applicants for international protection. Further information is available on the Directorate of Labour's website for applicants for international protection.
The right to services generally expires eight weeks after the granting of protection, 30 days after the final decision on refusal, or three days after the applicant has withdrawn his/her application.
