Directorate of Immigration: International protection
Do I need to pay for a spokesperson as an applicant for protection?
As an applicant for protection, you are offered legal assistance free of charge from the advocate appointed to you following the application for international protection. When applying for protection, you will be given the opportunity to specify a specific advocate from the Directorates list of advocates, should you have one in mind. If you want to choose another advocate after you have been appointed one, you will bear the cost of that service.
Please note that the advocates appointed by the Directorate of Immigration are completely independent of the Directorate, but have specifically applied for, and have been approved to, the provision of such services.
See further information on advocacy services for applicants for protection.
