What documents are relevant for an application for international protection?
It varies what documents are considered relevant for an application for international protection and many factors play a role, such as the country of origin, applicants social status and reasons for refuge. Before your interview you should look into what documents you have that can support your story of why you are fleeing your home country.
Examples include:
Documents proving origin and relation, such as identity cards, birth certificates, marriage certificates and custody documents.
Documents from public institutions such as police reports, court cases or criminal records.
Documents on health reasons such as medical records and diagnoses.
Documents regarding education or previous work, such as graduation certificates, employment contracts, company registration or memberships of non-profit organizations.
Informal documents that otherwise supports the presentation of a specific scenario, such as photographs, videos and phone messages.
Please note that the above list is not exhaustive and that which documents are considered relevant may vary according to the circumstances at hand.
