Directorate of Immigration: International protection
I have dual citizenship, how will my application for protection be processed?
If you have citizenship in a country on the list of safe countries of origin, your case will be prioritised. This means that you will be invited to an interview at the earliest opportunity, where your personal situation in the country in question will be discussed with regard to information on the general situation in the country. Citizens of safe countries of origin are generally denied protection and returned to their home country.
If Icelandic authorities are responsible for your application for protection and neither country where you have citizenship is on the list of safe countries of origin, your application will be evaluated with regard to your personal circumstances and information on the general situation in both countries.
