Voluntary return assistance ensures that you travel safely back to your home country, or a country where you are authorised to stay, without police involvement.

The assistance available varies according to the needs of the applicant. The assistance may include:

• Pre-departure counselling.

• Support with travel document acquisition.

• Help with registering children born in Iceland.

• Travel arrangements to the final destination in the country of origin.

• Assistance during transit and arrival.

• Escort services (medical or operational) when needed.

• Special arrangements for vulnerable individuals.

• In-cash assistance and reintegration support in accordance with the regulation on reintegration support and in-cash assistance for applicants for international protection
