The Emergency and Accident Department at HSS is open 24 hours a day.
It is important to understand that waiting times in the emergency department may vary, and patients are triaged and treated based on the urgency of their condition.
The emergency department handles serious illnesses and injuries that may require hospital admission, such as:
Sudden shortness of breath
Altered consciousness or confusion
Acute chest pain
Acute abdominal pain
Acute back pain
Allergic reactions
Rapidly worsening infections or inflammation
Seizures
Psychotic symptoms
Suicidal thoughts
Sudden high fever or acute weakness
It also treats major injuries and accidents, such as:
Bone fractures
Joint dislocations
Traffic accidents
High-energy trauma (e.g., falls from height, high-speed injuries)
Large wounds and cuts
The emergency department also provides follow-up care for fractures once a week.
In cases of uncertainty, call the health information line at 1700.
Appointments cannot be booked at the emergency department.
However, it is possible to book or reschedule a fracture follow-up appointment by calling 422 0500.
