Children's well-being
On January 1, 2022, new legislation came into effect regarding the integration of services for the well-being of children.
The main objective of the law is to promote the well-being of children and ensure that children and their parents/guardians who need support have access to suitable, integrated services and assistance in managing those services. From a child's birth, or when applicable, during pregnancy, parents/guardians and children are entitled to a well-being liaison as needed. This liaison is located in the child's local community and is a staff member at a health clinic or a midwife on duty during pregnancy and from birth until the child begins preschool or elementary school.
Parents/guardians can always reach out to a liaison in the child's local community to request integrated services.
The well-being liaisons for HSS are Sandra Pálsdóttir and Ingibjörg Finndís Sigurðardóttir. You can contact the liaisons by email at farsaeld@hss.is
