All vehicles subject to registration, except for oversized cars and trailers, and off-road vehicles, can be used in public traffic without restriction. However, restrictions may be applied (usually temporarily) to the use of slow moving vehicles, for example tractors, on certain streets (traffic signs). Oversized cars and trailers require an exemption for driving provided by the Icelandic Transport Authority.
