To re-register a ship, you must fill in the request form www.samgongustofa.is forms -signing -skipaskraning and you can select Re-registering (Endurskraning). A registered title deed/bill of sale must be submitted for ships above 5 gross tonnage. If the ship was sold abroad when it was de-registered at the Icelandic Transport Authority, a Deletion Certificate must be delivered from the country in which the ship was registered. The ship is then inspected by the Technical Department/inspectors and, if approved by them, placed on the register and if the ship passed the inspection.
