Social Insurance Administration: Other services TR
A fisherman on a vessel registered in another EEA country
Special rules apply to fishermen.
In most cases, the ship's flag state determines in which country a fisherman is insured under social security legislation.
An exception is made, however, if a fisherman:
· receives a salary from a company or individual that has an office or place of business in another member state, and
· has a permanent residence in that state.
In such cases, the person is covered by the social security legislation of the country of residence instead of the ship's flag state.
