When a person moves abroad for work, the general rule is that he/she is covered by the social security system of the country of the move.

You have the possibility to maintain Icelandic social security when you work abroad temporarily.

You will then collect rights in Iceland while you live and work abroad. To do so, you must fill out an application for A1 and return it to TR. See more here.
