HVE psychological services for children include assessment and treatment of mild to moderate behavioural and emotional problems in children and/or counselling to parents.

Treatment is done in collaboration with the guardians. In some cases treatment involves counselling to parents and in others they are participants in treatment. The number of hours spent with a child psychologist and within the primary healthcare settings depends on the severity of the problem and the clinical assessment of the psychologist. Primary psychiatric services are not of long-term value and serious mental health problems should be referred to appropriate treatments outside of primary health care.

The psychological services of HVE do not provide ADHD diagnosis, intelligence mails, developmental assessments or diagnosis of autism.

HVE psychological services for adults include evaluation and treatment for mild to moderate anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Treatment approach is cognitive behavioral therapy.

Individual therapy, group therapy and online therapy are available. The service also applies to women in maternity care and infant and toddler care. Treatment is done in collaboration with the service recipients and the treatment options depend on the severity of the problem and the clinical evaluation of a psychologist.

The psychological services of HVE do not provide ADHD diagnosis, intelligence mails, developmental assessments or autism diagnosis.

Health care centres have regular group treatment for people aged 18 and older that takes place once a week, two hours at a time for a total of six sessions. The treatment is carried out at different healthcare centres in the HVE region. The treatment includes education, discussions and homework. Six weeks of cognitive behavioural therapy in a group

In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), you learn strategies to effectively manage emotional distress. Research shows that CBT is one of the most effective treatments for e.g. anxiety and depression.

There are many reasons why people who need to be referred to a group of children in primary health care can be diverse and therefore not all those who need help with the same problem struggle. The vast majority are referred for anxiety and depression or because of emotional problems that affect daily life.

HAM takes place in a group once a week, two hours at a time, for a total of six sessions. The treatment includes education, discussions and homework. Many find it difficult to come to a group and are afraid to have to speak in front of others. However, this group therapy does not require participants to speak in front of the group any more than they would like. The treatment is educational and the main thing is to learn and do the homework personally for yourself.

Treatment is done in HVE clinics during daytime hours, but it may be at a different station from your local community. Therapists manage the therapy but may be assisted by other professionals, such as nurses.

The admission fee to the primary healthcare centres is charged for each visit and the workbook is charged.

6 weeks of cognitive behavioural therapy online

The same information is used in the usual HAM group therapy, except in this case the video is viewed on the Internet. The person receives a questionnaire to answer before each and every class, and afterwards receives a recording to watch. All recordings and questionnaires are returned weekly for six weeks and the person does homework according to the treatment manual. Electronic communication takes place through a healthcare setting.
