Staying in hospital
Questions to ask
Write down the points you want to discuss or remember to tell the doctor. Bring the notes with you when you meet the doctor and check off each item as you ask about it and get a response.
It can be helpful to bring someone with you for support and ask them to write down notes.
Ask about anything that is unclear.
Don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t understand, and have it explained to you until you do.
You could say: "Can you repeat that? I still don’t understand."
If you don’t understand certain words, ask for them to be written down and explained.
Request an interpreter if necessary.
