The emergency service assists pregnant women who have:

• Pain, bleeding, contractions, reduced fetal movements, signs of preeclampsia, or other serious pregnancy-related health concerns

• Are in early labour, for example when there is uncertainty about whether the waters have broken

• Acute complications within the first two weeks after delivery

Women who are not pregnant may also be seen at the emergency service with a referral from a doctor — for example, due to acute gynecological symptoms or complications occurring within 14 days after a gynecological procedure.
