With health insurance, you get help to protect your health and equal access to health care regardless of your financial situation.

The European Health Insurance Card entitles you to healthcare in other EEA countries, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The cardholder pays the same fee for health care as residents of the country.

When a legal domicile is transferred from Iceland, health insurance in Iceland is automatically cancelled immediately, unless in the case of students.

If a traveller has to pay for medical services abroad, he/she may be entitled to reimbursement.

Employees who work only in one EEA country, Switzerland or the UK are usually covered by the social security legislation of the country of employment.

Iceland Health can contribute to the cost of predetermined medical treatment abroad if certain conditions are met.
