Island.is
Island.is is a central public information and service hub for government agencies in Iceland
Table of contents
Island.is was launched in its current form in the autumn of 2020. The role of the website is to be a centralised service portal and a single source of truth about government services for the public. The content is constantly growing and improving as more and more government agencies opt to move their content to the site. The website is constantly being developed. Users should, however, be able to find the most important information and, if not, they can contact the Digital Iceland service centre.
The website is designed with user needs in mind and built to fulfil high accessibility requirements. Users can access information either by using the website's search, browsing service categories or through life events.
Agencies and service providers are responsible for adding and maintaining content with support from Digital Iceland.
What does a government agency have to do?
Government agencies can transfer their entire website and become part of Ísland.is, more information can be found on the information page for government agency websites.
An agency applies for website transfer by sending an application to Digital Iceland.
