Summer freeze ahead

We at Digital Iceland wish that summer will be warm and sunny all over the country, even though we have a frosty summer ahead when it comes to publishing. A frosty summer means that no new projects are published during the summer. The team of Digital Iceland is on the watch, however, as the Iceland.is community has grown quite large and there are many things to consider.

Interesting statistics

• 32 institutions have moved their website to Ísland.is and 21 are in the process of doing so.

• About 160 thousand have downloaded the Ísland.is app, of which 28% are active users.

• Over 25 thousand applications went through the Island.is application system.

• 245 publishers publish documents through the Digital Mailbox, of which 70 institutions.

• 17 service providers publish data through My pages Ísland.is

• 8 digital certificates can be found on My pages on Ísland.is and in the Ísland.is app.

In addition, Digital Iceland is processing and completing a number of tenders. The implementation of core services such as Authentication for All, Application System, and Digital Mailbox are in full swing. Institutions, secondary schools, and now also municipalities are preparing to move their websites as well as access to data of individuals and companies through My pages on Ísland.is.

Connect the State, the annual conference on the digital future of the public sector is in preparation and will be presented later this month. Connect the State will be held on 26th of September and we encourage interested parties to mark their calenders.

Digital Iceland’s tenders

• Service systems. The tender for a service system for public sector entities has been completed, and further promotion and implementation is underway.

• Advisors. The tender is open on the website of the State Purchasing Office but the deadline to submit tenders is the 12th of August.

• CMS system. The Government has sent out a request for information for preparation, but the aim is for a tender next winter.

• Framework Agreement for Digital Iceland. On the agenda next winter.

Health on Ísland.is:

The collaboration between the Directorate of Health and Digital Iceland is ongoing and work is underway to make health information available on My pages on Ísland.is.

New Applications from the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health

• Report a change of ownership of a work machine

• Work machine intended for driving on public roads

• Unregistering a work machine

A new authentication system replaces the old service

The older login service and the Ísland.is proxy system will close on September 1st, 2024. The new authentication system is only accessible to public entities. Private parties who have chosen to use electronic ID to authenticate their customers can, among other things, need to seek services available on the private market.

New Criminal Records

A new criminal record has been opened and an application for a criminal record certificate on Ísland.is updated concurrently. The Ministry of Justice, the State Prosecutor, and District Commissioners were involved in the project in collaboration with Digital Iceland, which was developed by Deloitte’s infrastructure team. The application for a criminal record certificate was updated by Origo.

My pages on Ísland.is are constantly evolving and now a summary of payments of housing benefits from HMS has been added to the financial information. Under "Payments" you can now select Housing benefits.
