All work machines must be inspected:
annually - see inspection sticker on the machine or on my pages
before and after significant repairs and changes to the machines structures
It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all machines are inspected, and to request an inspection in a timely manner. The machine is a part of the work environment for many employers, and owners must therefore take care of the safety of the machine in order to ensure the safety of the staff.
Inspection process
You have to request an inspection by pressing the "Apply" button here above or on the device's information page on My pages.
The Administration of Occupational Safety and Health will contact you within three working days.
Workplace inspection
An inspector arrives at the workplace and inspects the machine. The result can be either:
Full inspection: New inspection sticker applied.
Half inspection: Improvements need to be made, but the device can be used in the meantime. An additional inspection must be ordered after the repairs are completed.
Use prohibited: The device must not be used until repairs have been made. A red label is placed on the device in the meantime. You need to make an appointment for a second inspection after the repairs are completed.
An inspection report will be sent by e-mail to the specified e-mail address. It will then be available on Island.is the day after the inspection.
