Social Insurance Administration: Professionals - on changes to disability and rehabilitation payments (1)
Do some people receive a partial disability pension even if they are not looking for work?
Yes. The result of an integrated expert assessment determines whether a disability pension or a partial disability pension is approved.
A partial disability pension is for individuals who are assessed as having 26-50% capacity for activity in the labour market according to an integrated expert assessment due to a long-term or serious health condition or disability. Being a jobseeker or in part-time employment is not a condition for receiving a partial disability pension. Individuals who are already in part-time employment can receive a partial disability pension, but if they are not in paid employment, they can apply for an activity grant from the Directorate of Labour, which is granted for up to 24 months while the individual is actively seeking employment with the assistance of the Directorate of Labour. The combined amount of the partial disability pension and the activity grant is equal to the amount of a full disability pension. Applications for an activity grant are submitted to the Directorate of Labour. It is not income-related.
