General
A licence from the police is required to import and sell fireworks. The same licence includes both import and wholesale. For retail sales of fireworks, a different licence is required.
A permit for importing fireworks is not granted to individuals.
Conditions
Applicant is a company, or an association with a VAT number.
A guarantor is stated in the application, is 18 years of age or older.
Storage for fireworks meets the requirements of the Housing and Construction Authority, according to the fire department.
Pay for a permit
The fee for a new permit is ISK 34,000 and the fee for renewal is ISK 6,500.

Allowed fireworks
Fireworks that are:
have been approved by the Consumer Agency,
bear the CE marking,
are manufactured according to certain standards. The standards are set out in Articles 26 and 27 of the Fireworks Regulation.
Duration of the permit
5 years.
