General

Applications for authorisation shall be submitted with 5 weeks notice.

This is how you get permission to hold a fireworks

To hold a fireworks display, you must:

  1. register a fireworks display with the Environment and Energy Agency

  2. obtain a written permit from the landowner or the municipality

  3. apply for a permit with the police.

Police will request comments from the municipality and fire department.

Information to be followed

The application must include:

  • information about the responsible person

  • information about the shooter, if other than the responsible person

  • information on the location, date and time of the exhibition

  • aerial view of the exhibition site

Documents

The application must be accompanied by:

  • itemised catalogue of exhibition products

  • a letter of permission from the landowner, if applicable

Duration

The permit shall only be valid for the period for which application is made.

Cost

12.000 ISK

Payment is made by bank transfer.

When an application is accepted

When a permit is approved, the police issue a letter of authorization.

A letter of authorisation is sent to the applicant by email.
