Rules for fireworks

Fireworks may be set off from 28 December to 6 January, with both days included.

On these days, fireworks are prohibited from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. except on New Year’s Eve.

Age limits

Children under 18 years of age should be supervised by adults.

Buying fireworks

You need to be:

  • 12 years to buy fireworks from category 1

  • 16 years to buy fireworks from category 2

  • 18 years to buy fireworks in category 3

Safety rules

  1. Use protective equipment that protects the hearing and vision of those who both set off fireworks and those who watch.

  2. Follow listed instructions.

  3. Do not set off fireworks under the influence of alcohol or drugs that impair your judgement and reaction.

Distance from the farm

For reference, be wearing:

  • 1 meter away when firing up category 1 fireworks,

  • 8 metres when launching fireworks from category 2,

  • 15 metres away when launching a category 3 fireworks.

Distance from buildings and vegetation

Be more than 100 metres away from buildings made of flammable materials, places where flammable materials are stored, timber stores, stores with combustible packaging and the like, and places for storing flammable liquids and gas cylinders. Be more than 200 metres away from wood, long-grained land or sensitive vegetation.

If you use larger fireworks, you must be more than 50 metres away from structures made of particularly flammable materials, places where flammable materials are stored, timber stores, stores with combustible packaging and storage places for flammable liquids and gas tanks. Be more than 100 metres away from woodland, long-grained land or other sensitive vegetation.

The distance limit does not apply to small fireworks such as asterisks, hand flares and such products that can be fully controlled. However, when they are used special care must be taken in the vicinity of areas with fire.

Where is it forbidden to fire fireworks?

  • Close to places where there are flammable materials.

  • On the grounds of retirement homes and hospitals.

  • At places where fireworks are packaged, sold or stored.

  • Farms, stables, stables and other stables.

A New Year’s Eve bonfire

When burning and in the immediate vicinity of it, only the use of starlights and flares, except for fireworks, is allowed. When starlights and flares are used, care must be taken to ensure that people are safe and that they do not set off fires and cause wildfires.

Animal welfare

Take animal consideration. Their use in the kitchen is prohibited.
