Old age pension

Those who are 67 years of age or older and have lived in Iceland for at least three years may be entitled to an old-age pension. It is possible to start receiving an old-age pension at the age of 65.

It is necessary to apply for an old-age pension from all pension funds where there is a benefit entitlement before applying to TR. Information on entitlements with pension funds can be found on the Pension Portal (Lífeyrisgáttin).

The pension calculator is a useful tool for understanding the allowance that applicants may be entitled to. The correct information must be entered, and then the results in the calculator should be accurate, but the calculation is not binding.
