Home supplement for those receiving pension or allowance and live alone
The household supplement is an addition to the allowance from TR. It is added to the disability pension, new medical- and rehabilitation allowance and old-age pension for those who live alone and are legally domiciled in Iceland.
General information
You must be:
single, neither cohabiting nor married, unless your spouse lives in a nursing home.
You can receive a household supplement if you live:
in your own property,
in a rental property,
in a shared residence,
in a halfway house,
with children under the age of 18,
with a young person aged 18 to 25 in education or vocational training, or
alone but your spouse lives in a nursing home (does not apply if you receive sickness and rehabilitation benefits).
Housing and living conditions
Your home must have cooking and toilet facilities for private use.
If you share cooking or toilet facilities with others, you do not count as living alone.
You must have a legal domicile where you live.
If you live in a group home or a halfway house, you can apply for a household supplement despite the above conditions.
Notify Changes
It is important to report changes to your residence to TR. For example, if you move, move into a co-habitation or someone moves their legal domicile to you.
