Supplementation for disabled people who own a car

A supplement may be paid to a recipient with a mobility impairment to cover the cost of operating a vehicle.

The supplement is paid monthly with other pension payments.

The applicant's disability must be assessed on the basis of a disability certificate from a doctor.

You can apply for a payment for owning a car if you receive:

• medical- and rehabilitation allowance,

• disability pension or disability allowance,

• old age pension.

The amount is 24.295 ISK per month.

The compensation is paid out in conjunction with other payments from TR as long as the disability assessment is valid and the applicant owns a car.

Conclusion

When the result is available, you will receive an email and notification on My pages under My documents.

If you disagree with the decision, you can:

• request a justification on My Pages TR,

• send a request to review the case to the Client Ombudsman,

• or sue with the The Welfare Appeals Committee.

Payments of supplementation for owning a car

The first day of each month the pension is paid in advance along with other payments.

If payments are approved retroactively, the credit is paid out as soon as possible on the bank account registered on My pages.
