If you are assessed with a disability of 50 to 74% you can receive a monthly disability grant due to reduced work capacity.
Disability grants are intended for individuals who bear significant additional costs because of their disability, for example, for medicine, medical care or assistive devices.
A disability grant is not intended as a main source of income like disability pension and the amount can be lowered because of other income.
Amount
Disability grants are income-related, which means that other income can lower the amount paid.
The full amounts of the disability grants are:
46.588 ISK per month for 18 to 61 years old,
63.020 ISK per month for 62 to 67 years old.
Additional payments with disability allowance:
those who have children under the age of 18 will receive 75% of the amount of the child pension with each child,
persons with reduced mobility may apply for car support supplementation.
Payments cancelled
Disability grants shall be cancelled if:
other income limits are exceeded,
an application for re-evaluation is submitted late,
you become 67 years old because then you will be entitled to old age pension. You must apply for old age pension separately.
