Patient Education Center at Landspítali
About the Patient Education Center
The Patient Education Center at Landspítali was established in 2019 and is part of the Office of the Director of Nursing and Medical Services. Dr. Brynja Ingadóttir, Nurse Specialist, leads the center (brynjain@landspitali.is).
Role of the Patient Education Center
The center is a leader in the development of patient education at Landspítali, including mapping workflows and procedures for creating educational materials, training staff and patients, implementing new teaching methods and media, and researching their impact. It assists staff with projects related to improvements in patient education and collaborates with relevant parties to implement proper documentation of educational activities.
The center is responsible for the initial publication and revision of educational materials on behalf of Landspítali, in close collaboration with clinical staff. This applies equally to website content, printed materials, and multimedia resources.
The center represents Landspítali externally in collaborations regarding education for patients, families, and the public. It takes the initiative in coordinating and collaborating with external parties to ensure access to educational resources for patients, families, and the general public.
The center monitors trends and developments in patient education, both domestically and internationally, and communicates these to staff.
The center collaborates with universities on the development of its activities, including research projects and healthcare professional education in patient education.
Within the center, an editorial board for patient education materials and a steering committee for advisory purposes operate. See below in the +list:
