Development of Patient Education Materials at Landspítali
At Landspítali, patient education materials for patients and their families are developed according to a defined process. Checklists and guidelines are used to ensure consistent structure, clear presentation, and high professional standards.
The Patient Education Unit oversees this process. It provides guidance, reviews all materials, and manages further production, including layout in collaboration with a graphic designer when appropriate.
Materials are developed in different formats depending on the subject, such as written content or short videos.
Once published, materials are stored in the quality management system and made available on the Landspítali website. All materials are reviewed regularly, typically every 12–36 months.
Patient education materials are also shared electronically with patients, for example through Heilsuvera, from electronic health record systems, or via email.
