Sign language interpretation

Sign language interpretation is the interpretation of direct communication between two or more parties, where at least one party speaks sign language.

The main goal of the Communication Center's Interpreter Service is to promote greater access, and thereby participation, of sign language speaking individuals to services as widely as possible in the Icelandic society.

The Sign language interpreters at the Centre for Communication interpret between Icelandic Sign Language and Icelandic. The interpretation can be performed on site, using remote interpretation or the program/app used by the Video Remote Interpreting.
