Ordering a sign language interpreter service

People who use Icelandic sign language for communication in their daily lives have the right to sign language interpretation in their communication with public bodies and companies.

Public bodies or companies that have relations with a sign language country may also use the translation services of the Communication Centre.

You can get an interpreter service from:

  • on the spot

  • using remote interpretation

  • using the program/app used by the Video Remote Interpreting service at the Communication Center

In case of emergency, call the 112 emergency hotline, which will send an invitation to an interpreter.

To order a sign-in interpreter, you can send an e-mail to tulkur@shh.is

Information to accompany an order
