The role of the institution is mainly to work on research on Icelandic sign language, provide interpreting services between Icelandic sign language and Icelandic, teach Icelandic sign language and develope appropriate curriculum.

The Communication Center's office is open Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and Friday from 9 am to 12 am.
