The role of the Communication Center counselor is to serve families of sign language children and provide information to their parents or guardians.

A counselor from the Communication Center visits families as needed.

It is crossed:

• the main means of communication,

• teaching Icelandic Sign Language, which is related to daily activities of the family

• education about Deaf culture

The SHH counsellor puts families in contact with sign language teachers and families can attend family courses in Icelandic sign language free of charge.
