Sign language classes

According to Icelandic law, Icelandic sign language is the first language of those who have to rely on it for expression and communication, and their children.

Anyone that needs to use sign language shall have the opportunity to learn and use Icelandic sign language as soon as language acquisition begins, or immediately after deafness, hearing impairment or combined visual and hearing impairment has been detected. Family members have the same right.

Special emphasis is placed on services for children of language acquisition age, pupils at all school levels and their families.
