Video Remote Interpreting is the interpretation of phone calls between ÍTM and Icelandic speakers. The video call also includes an interpreter who is a neutral mediator of the conversation.
The service is available every weekday, between 10:00 and 14:00, and dose not need to be booked in advance. A special time can be requested at the e-mail tulkur@shh.is, and we try to meet those requests if possible.
In case of emergency, call the 112 emergency hotline, which will send an requests to an interpreter.
When calling institutions operated by the state or municipalities, video interpreting is provided for a fee, and an invoice for the service is sent to the respective institution after the call. When calling private individuals, the interpretation is paid for by the Communication Center, using funds that are allowed to be used for free interpreting in daily life.
