The period of validity of inflatable liferafts is generally specified in the manufacturer's confirmation. There is an ongoing system of inspection and period of validity. The Icelandic Transport Authority, classification societies and accredited inspection bodies shall supervise of the annual inspections of ships' life-saving equipment. The Icelandic Transport Authority shall supervise service stations for ship equipment and issue operating licences to them.
