Creative activities, artist subsidies and project support

For primary to advanced stages of education, student exchanges, development of course materials and support for teachers

Renewable energy and energy transition projects

Sustainability, renewable energy, recycling systems, reduction of carbon emissions

Nordic cooperation, activities in Europe, and other projects 

Product development, market research, tax deductions and refunds

Grants from Icelandic funds - from government sources and elsewhere

Adult education, job-related classes, job training and continuing education

Scientific and other basic research, equipment purchases and support for scholars

Leisure activities, youth exchanges and other projects related to young people

Applied research projects

Application takes place in two steps, the dates refer to the first step

Grants for start-up companies or individuals. Fræ is a preparation grant for projects in planning stages; Thróunarfræ is a preliminary grant for cooperative development projects.

Seed grants for companies (Fræ/Thróunarfræ)

All submitted applications are evaluated, and grants are announced at least twice a year. 

Grants for the preparation and filing of patent applications, both for priority applications and applications in the international process.

Grants for patent applications

Marketing grants to small and mid-sized companies working in research and development. The grants are in two categories, for different stages of product preparation for the market.

Market grants for companies

Grant to start-up companies or entrepreneurs to support projects in the early stages. The application is submitted in two stages.

Sprout grant for companies

Due to a system update, payments for applications and certificates will be unavailable from 14:00 on December 31 until 17:00 on January 1.
