The objective of driving assessment is to assess whether the driver's assessment of his own competence is in accordance with his/her actual ability. Driving assessment is also intended to be a formative assessment which gives the driver a good picture of his strengths and weaknesses when driving with regard to road safety.

The driving assessment is expected to take about 50 minutes, of which the driving will take 30 minutes. The driver evaluates his/her own competence at the beginning and points that are a good idea to take into consideration can be found below. After the driver's self-assessment, the driving takes 30 minutes, with the driving instructor selecting part of the route and the driver another part of the route. After the the driving, the driving instructor reviews the same points as the driver initially went over and gives the driver his/her assessment.

Instructions for registration

The process of how a driving instructor records digitally that driving assessment has been carried out. Once a driving instructor has confirmed that a driving assessment has been carried out, the candidate receives an e-mail and can begin applying for the permanent license.

• Check 'I have familiarised myself with the above' and press the 'Continue' button in order to go to the next page in the process. In so doing, information is obtained from the vehicle registry.

• The applicant's ID and email address are entered and the student's name appears below. Then select ´Continue´.

• Here, the driving instructor hacks 'I confirm that the driving evaluation has been carried out' and presses 'Confirm' to finish the process.

• When the process is complete, the following e-mail is sent to the candidate:
