Study leave committee
The Study Leave Committee consists of three members plus alternates. One member is appointed by the Minister of Education and Children without nomination and serves as the chair of the committee, while two members are appointed based on nominations from the Icelandic Teachers’ Union. Alternates are appointed in the same manner. The committee’s term of office is four years.
The Study Leave Committee 2023–2027 consists of:
Þóra Þórðardóttir, Chair, appointed by the Ministry of Education and Children
Guðmundur Björgvin Gylfason, appointed by the Icelandic Teachers’ Union
Sigrún Lilja Guðbjörnsdóttir, appointed by the Icelandic Teachers’ Union
At the end of each study leave year, the committee prepares a report on the allocation of study leave. The report includes information on funding granted for study leave and grants, as well as the number of applicants.
