Regional Quota

Counter contribution

Only catches that meet all the conditions count as counter contribution towards regional quota.

Conditions for counter contribution

The following catches count as counter contribution towards regional quota:

  • Catches landed for processing within the relevant community during the current fishing year.

  • Catches that are kept separate from other catches and are:

    • weighed and specifically registered upon weighing at the port scales as “regional quota for processing”.

  • Catches that have not previously been counted towards regional quota.

  • Catches of all fish species specified in the accompanying table.

Catches sold at a fish auction do not count towards counter contribution unless special rules permit it.

What processing counts as counter contribution?

The following processing counts as counter contribution to regional quota:

  • Filleting

  • Splitting

  • Freezing

  • Salting

  • Drying

The salting of lumpfish roe is also considered processing within the meaning of the rules on regional quota.

Allocation of counter contribution

When allocating a counter contribution to regional quota, the Directorate of Fisheries compares the following data:

  • Weighing notes

  • Weighing and processing reports (VOR reports)

  • Data from fish markets

Catch does not count as counter contribution

The following prevent a catch from being counted as counter contribution to regional quota:

  • If it is stated in VOR reports that a catch registered as a regional quota for processing does not meet the conditions for processing (i.e. filleting, splitting, freezing, salting or drying).

  • If a catch is registered on a weighing note as a regional quota for processing but was auctioned at a fish market.
