Registered owners can order number plates for their vehicles here.
If someone other than the registered owner needs to order number plates, or if a different type or size than the one currently on the vehicle is required, they must contact the Icelandic Transport Authority to complete the order and payment.
Production
Production of number plates takes 3 working days, or 1 working day if an express fee is paid. If the plates are to be delivered to an inspection station outside the capital area, the delivery time will be longer.
Please note that no notification or email is sent when the plates are ready.
Cost
A single number plate costs 6.616 ISK and two plates cost 13.232 ISK. If express processing is requested, the additional fee will be 3.228 ISK.
