The tariff that took effect on 1 December 2021 applies to the service of the National Archives.
Charge for photocopying and copying data from archives

Fee for the receipt, completion and transfer of the archives of the delivery party who has ceased or has been suspended.
If the archives of the parties who are required to submit documents, which have ceased operations or have been discontinued, are not completed and registered according to the rules therein, the National Archives will charge for the reception, transport, completion and registration of the documents, whether in electronic form or in paper.

Fee for the retention of paper documents of persons under the age of 30.
For the preservation of paper documents of persons under the age of 30, the National Archives of Iceland charges a fee according to the museum's tariff. Article 15, paragraph 8 of the Act on Public Archives provides for the museum's authorization to charge a fee for the preservation of documents under the age of 30. Before the date of the delivery of paper documents under the age of 30, the fee is calculated and an agreement is made with the person responsible for the delivery.

It is noted that according to Article 5 (2) of the National Archives of Iceland’s tariff, the cost of possession for paper documents that are under 30 years old from the parties liable for delivery that have been destroyed shall be paid by the ministry or municipality under which the person concerned was registered.
Fee for the preservation of municipal documents.
For the preservation of municipal paper documents, the National Archives charges a fee, but according to Article 14, paragraph 5 of the Act on Public Archives, municipalities are to pay the National Archives a fee for the preservation of documents.

Fee for the preservation and destruction of the bankruptcy documents.
Bankruptcies shall pay annual deposit fees to the National Archives of Iceland for each shelf meter of documents that the museum keeps for seven years and for the destruction of the documents after that time. Deposit fees are paid once for seven years from the end of the period when the collection is delivered to the National Archives.
