The Icelandic language test for citizenship was held from 14 to 31 May. It is a pleasure to report that 90% of the 460 who took the test met the basic requirements for Icelandic knowledge for Icelandic citizenship.

A total of 4,677 applications for places in secondary schools in Iceland were received in the autumn of 2024, but enrollment has now been completed. It is nice to report that all new students from elementary schools who applied have been admitted. All applications for vocational studies could therefore be accepted, but in recent years a large part of the students has had to be turned away due to lack of facilities and teachers.

Risatómar smásögur, which contains stories by 26 children aged 6 - 12, has now been published for the seventh time at The Directorate of Education and School Services. The publication of Risatómar smásögur is part of the cooperative project Sögur, which hosted its awards ceremony on RÚV last Saturday.
